Do you think schools are too quick to delay or cancel classes due to weather conditions? _________________ Sincerely,

I do, I really do. But it only takes one injured kid, due to weather, to ruin a school administrator's career. So from that aspect, I understand the cancellations and delays. The meteorologists aren't all that sharp with the weather on a daily basis. So, I don't expect the schools to make the right call either. _________________

I don't think they call it too soon. In fact, I am of the opinion that they wait too long (at least my school district). I live out in the country and my road, along with many others, is not top priority to be cleared. These are the roads the school busses need to travel on and these are the ones the delay or closure should be based on. My biggest complaint is when a two-hour delay turns into a closure, plans have already been made for the delay and everything is turned upside down. _________________ -amom

Hell No!! While teachers and the kids can benefit from a delay, the secretaries and aides at CanonMac have to report on time. No reason for it, we just sit and bitch about why we are there! On more than one occasion we have pulled into the parking lots, that haven't yet been plowed and hear on the news school was canceled! We have also had kids show up usual time, on a two hour delay, that have been dropped off by parents because they couldn't find a babysitter at the last minute. I hate the snow! |
