There is no dispute ...The Bible supports slavery and condemns Homosexuality...But let's not stop there... It also openly endorses supernaturally assisted genocide, the stoning of prostitutes, beheading prisoners, the murder of unmarried pregnant women and a whole bunch of other prehistoric stuff
----
You will find similar views in the Torah, the Koran, and a host of other ancient texts, including Hammurabi's Code.....But you WILL NOT find these views in the words of Jesus, who taught us to love one another,
and worked himself to protect prostitutes, and never said a word about
pillow biters

EXACTLY! The only people Jesus condemned were the religious hypocrites.

Ondi, hypocrisy comes in many flavors....And one of those is the secular tradition of attacking religion for all the bad that it has actually done, without recognizing all the good that would NOT have happened without the element of Faith...This forum is too small for such arguments....And we should probably be in the "Religion" section

The difference, Free... is that the good that can be attributed to religion did not require religion. It could have been done in a religious vacuum. However, all of the evil wrought on the world that is of religious origin IS dependent on religion. This isn't just Christianity... Algebra and medicinal discoveries are chalked up as contributions of Islam... but neither requires a faith in Allah. Khobar towers, USS Cole, 9-11, Mumbai... all are dependent on Islam. In a religious vacuum, people are seldom compelled to blow themselves up.

This would be a great thread to move to religion... if I have time tomorrow, I will do so.

Good toons - but i disagree, Free. Certain interpretations of the Bible condemn homosexuality, but it's highly debatable that those interpretations are correct, or even supportable, except by a tradition of sheer prejudice.

i'm just sayin'....

Cool

Nah, things have just been hectic and Wes' mom is more high maintenance than she was even a couple of months ago. Either that or our collective patience with her is waning! Probably a bit of both, lol.

Nice to know my absence was noted! Very Happy
