The sea ducks are not as tasty-you have to REALLY like duck to eat them. But the fresh water ducks we got (Buffle Beads and Blue Bills are very tasty. We also got a Ruddy Duck-it been years since I got one of those. But the Old Squaws, Golden Eyes, and Scouters are not at all tasty. There are needy families around where we go that truly appreciate ALL the ducks we take them, so my entire group gives them all to them. Makes me feel good. _________________

I do the same thing with deer-I always try to get at least one doe and give it to the Food Bank-now that they are allowed to accpet them again. USDA would not allow it for a couple of years. _________________

I have never hunted duck... but I have always suspected that a real duck is nothing like a restaurant duck... Apparently, most food ducks in America are Pekin Duck... which are all descendants of a few individuals that were brought to New York from China in 1873. _________________ The end is nigh! Mallard and Wood duck are the tastiest. Teal is not bad. Megansers taste like goose, which, no matter how you cook it ends up tasting just like liver. _________________

Forgot to add....Canvasbacks are the best but that led to their demise-in the 30's a Canvasback Duck dinner cost $100.00 in New York. Market hunting just about wiped them out. Through the efforts of conservation groups like Ducks Unlimited they are making a comeback but they are not in huntable numbers yet. _________________
