Lol...no...

It turns out we have more than one fuse box. The second one is inexplicably in the landlord's storage room. He went in there and found a fuse that had popped and flipped it back on. Problem solved.

Why did the fuse/circut breaker pop Cy? The stove is on a 220 line and 220 you do not mess with. Have the landlord come over and turn on all the Burners, oven etc to see that it is ok. Not you, the land lord, better he frie then you

No idea why it popped. Kind of random. We've been using the stove and it seems fine.

probably a surge for whatever reason, since it is on his side, wonder if he has anything else feeding from the circut? It will also pop when there is low voltage too.

Cy, I'm with Bus...Breakers don't trip at random, they trip for a reason...so either the stove has a short, which will trip the breaker again, or possibly injure you, or the breaker itself is bad, which can start a fire in the panel box (been there) , or last, but funny enough, the plug connection has gone bad...Funny because, it's not really dangerous, but it'll just trip the breaker again when the heat is on high

Well I'll run the oven on high for a bit when I get home and watch what it does.

I just had a strange electrical deal that made me think my electric range was shot when it was not. First, the oven starts randomly shutting down. I'm investigating a new stove when I also figure out that one of the baseboard heaters in one of our extra bedrooms is cutting out at the same time the stove does. But the breakers for those two never tripped. Turns out, after opening up the breaker box, that a couple of loose screws underneath a couple of breakers were loose, causing a piece of metal to wiggle and creating arcing that was causing a short. There also was some buildup on the metal. Cleaned that up, tightened the screws, and all is good.

Cy, please don't attempt a repair unless you've had training...220 doesn't shock you, it burns a hole through your chest cavity on its way to the ground...What saved my life, was being on a short wooden ladder...Listen to experience, please -- no joke, no motive

Remember, Cy... electricity is like the aliens in "Signs"... it doesn't like water. You should be soaking wet at all times when fidgeting with electricity.

Also, electricity is like other aliens in that it is repelled by metallic foil.

Soak yourself in water, and then have your wife wrap your whole body with aluminum foil... then get to work! Remember, an unwound paperclip makes a GREAT pokin'-around tool Smile

I'm not going to open the thing up. I'm just going to turn it on and see if the fuse blows again.

Stove vs. 220 story. The first time I cleaned my new electric oven, I didn't realize I probably shouldn't have been using a wet rag. Threw me across the room and scared the begeebers out of me! I throw off the breaker now.
