Watt the he11 do you know about electricity...? |
I don't have any attitude. I know nothing about electricity...except what I know about building computers...which is why I'm not going to open the stove's innards up. I just know that it'll pop the fuse again if it shorts, in which case I'll call an electrician. I'm not going to play with electrical wires. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. The current conversation is clever and all, but I am still expecting anode to edison from Freethinker... being one of the forum's poet laureates and all...
I offer no resistance on this topic... my brain hertz trying to think of electrical terms from 6th grade shop class.
Some of the puns in the other responses were real joules! _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Brant wrote: | I just had a strange electrical deal that made me think my electric range was shot when it was not. First, the oven starts randomly shutting down. I'm investigating a new stove when I also figure out that one of the baseboard heaters in one of our extra bedrooms is cutting out at the same time the stove does. But the breakers for those two never tripped. Turns out, after opening up the breaker box, that a couple of loose screws underneath a couple of breakers were loose, causing a piece of metal to wiggle and creating arcing that was causing a short. There also was some buildup on the metal. Cleaned that up, tightened the screws, and all is good. |
Are baseboard heaters 220 Brant?
If so they shouldn't be on the same circut as the stove , kind of suspect when the stove is on and these come on at the same time( which would be sort of rare as the stove won't be used but once a day or so), you are going to possibly get an overload. That should trip the circut breaker before it cause a fire though if the right breaker is in there and not one with a higher voltage tolorence.
That is why there are codes and inspectors for buildings. |

They were two different circuits, but the breakers were across from one another in the box, and there was a piece of metal running between the two sides of the box, and because of a couple of loose screws, there was arcing in between them. It's hard to explain without looking at the inside of the box. _________________

Sorry to barge in on the conversation, but since this is technically a Subway thread.......
Quote: | NEW YORK – Fresh bread will soon be baking high above ground zero.
The new World Trade Center got its first restaurant Wednesday — a sandwich shop at the top of the Freedom Tower under construction.
As the sun rose over the site of the Sept. 11 attack, a lift on a hydraulic jack hoisted the Subway restaurant up the signature skyscraper that marks the rebirth of the trade center's 16 acres. The shipping containers-turned-eatery will open in January and keep moving up as the tower is built to 105 floors.
