First off, we're not sure what Roethlisberger's status is. After taking a knee to the head, they seemed to be testing him for a concussion on the sidelines. At best, he looks like he has a stinger (neck injury). Now, backup Charlie Batch is out 4-6 weeks with a broken wrist.

Dennis Dixon better start watching tapes of the Ravens... like immeadiately. Hey, we might even see some Wildcat formations... though I'd like to see Hines take those snaps over Dixon.

Guess I know who I'm picking in this game.

He didn't enter the game until OT. Hell, he only took a few snaps. He must've hurt it on that weak pass to Mendenhall that didn't get there in time. If I remember correctly, that was his last pass of the game. I'm not sure???

Jeff Garcia is a free agent. He'll want a big paycheck, but at 6-4, sheeet, we need a couple wins.

Of course, Ben not playing is just speculation. But it didn't look good.

Third string is up:
Quote:
Dixon is in his second year in the league and has only thrown one pass in his career.

Wow.

I didn't think it was possible, but Charlie Batch is a bigger potato chip than Troy Polamalu.

Dennis Dixon needs a back up. Unless they designate Hines Ward (college QB at Georgia) as back up.

Other FA QBs:

JP Losman
Rex Grossman
Ken Dorsey
Brooks Bollinger
former Steeler Anthony Wright
Jamie Martin
Charlie Frye
Trent Green
Luke McCown
Jeff Garcia

But Charlie Batch is 92 years old (in football years).

Ben will be back, but will be sacked more often as those brain whacks are taking a toll. Say he holds the ball too long, but really it is taking that much time for his brain rements to get the signal from his eyes, as to the receiver he is going to throw to.

Haha, I wouldn't be terribly upset with Grossman. He won so many games at Florida... and he wasn't horrible in Chicago. Chicago just has a black cloud when it comes to QBs. Oh, and horrible WRs... that too.

Which leads me to my "Yelling at the TV Like It Can Hear You" moment of the week.

So Ben is laying on the ground... and the legendary broadcast team of Ian Eagle and Rich Gannon start analyzing the situation. Gannon says, "Lemme tell ya, this is what happens when your quarterback takes as many hits as Ben Roethlisberger does".

Me yelling at Gannon, "Shut the **** up you stupid dumb ****. So your're telling me that if Ben had only been hit ten times this year, he wouldn't be laying on the ground! When you take a hit like that to the head, whether its your first contact of the year, or whether its your 300th hit, it produces the same ****in result you dumb ****!!!!!"

I'm paraphrasing, but it was something like that.

I think he just meant that when your line allows that kind of penetration, the probability of that kind of injury is higher. Its not that repeated hits suddenly make your head magnetic to other guys' legs, but if Ben had more protection, the likelihood that they get to him on that play or any play is lessened. Maybe the appropriate verbalization would be, "This kind of thing is likely to happen when you aren't as good at protecting your QB as you should be."

See, it would help if the tv could yell back. They could clarify what they meant. I'm going to invent this kind of tv. All I need is a few people with a lot of money to join my project. Wheres George? He seems like a gullible... I mean, good investor.
