It's my least favorite form of meat... Why take something as good as meat and then ruin it by making it less good for no other reason than to control the shape?
Which, I have been two months without, thank you very much... except for one early exception made for scallops... _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Nice. Those scallops were good, though. Meatloaf has been one of my least favorite foods since the first time I ate it. If forced, I normally prefer to absolutely smother it in dijon mustard to make it palatable. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! It's not that I really dislike the taste of meat loaf, per se... it's just that as a kid I would think "Why can't it taste like a hamburger?"
It would be like taking barbecue chicken, which is awesome pants... and then deliberately making it taste like hummus...
I like hummus... but that's because I don't really expect it to play above its means...
With meat loaf, you are taking pork, veal, and beef... and creating a lump of stuff that doesn't taste as good as any individual ingredient could, possibly, on it's own... _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Hummus, made right, is far more tasty and dynamic than anything you can do with chicken. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

You guys are not making meatloaf right. If done correctly, it's delicious. _________________

That's what I was thinking, Brant. My family asks me to make meatloaf and we seldom have leftovers! It's yummy. _________________ -amom

I've had it done many different ways, but its not really the taste that bothers me, its the texture. Its like eating moist ground up cardboard. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Again, it's all in the recipe, preparation and execution. My mother is one of the most wonderful people on the planet, but the proper use of her meatloaf would have been as a doorstop. Back in the olden days, it seemed that most home cooks believed the proper way to cook meat was to roast it until it could be used to drive nails. In my book, anyone who orders a steak well done does not deserve to be eating steak. _________________

Anytime I can remember eating meatloaf, I had to use half the bottle of ketchup. _________________

I love meatloaf!! But I've had some really bad meatloaf too...It's one of those meals that when it's good, it's really good...But when it's bad, it's REALLY AWFUL! That "meat hand" is really disgusting though... _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F.
