Do you believe in ghosts?

Nope. It would be silly for me to believe in ghosts when I don't believe in the guy in the sky. _________________

I believe that the "Ghost of Tom Joad" is a good tune.
I also believe that if you say "biggie smalls" three times in a mirror, the dead rapper (Notorious BIG) will appear and start shooting the room up. _________________

Quote: | What's being atheist have to do with believing in ghosts? Ghosts are a manifestation of energy that has not quite dissipated back in to the background noise of the world. As most people are made of energy in multiple forms, when one dies that energy is absorbed back into the world. Some are a bit more energized than others and remain a little longer than they should have. Or it could also be that the barrier between dimensions is thinner is some areas and what you see is residue of that other dimension. Simple explanations really.

I borrowed this from the innernets. Doesn't quite back up my apples and oranges comment, but it is food for thought. I, of course, being of mystical mind, believe in lots of silly stuff. _________________ -amom

I believe that there is the potential for a scientifically explainable phenomenon where the energy left over from a dying organism is expressed in currently unexplainable apparitions that may or may not take the form of the deceased, possibly moreso because of the observer's subliminal mind than its actual appearance.
I do not believe that a person's consciousness can continue to exist and roam around after that person dies. Although I'd love to be proven wrong because that would be very fascinating. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Hey, I have no problem with people believe in a spirit world. To each their own. But I don't believe in anything that I can't see or can't be proven scientifically. _________________

I believe in ghosts because no-one can stop me..
Populating this cold and calculating world with friendly
avatars who provide comfort and advice displaces the
strict determinism of scientific reductionism, with the
very un-scientific concept of free-will...
I'd rather live in a jungle, with Don Quixote, than in a
laboratory with Dr. Faustus... _________________ where-ever you get it - there you have it. - Anon. |

Thanks, Cy...it was a thinly veiled rebuttal to Brant's call
for physical evidence...
It's that old mind-body question, 3,000 years later...
I just figure that, if i subject my children to a belief in
Santa Claus, and sprites and fairies...and I witness what
a wonderful developmental tool it is, then I would be a
hypocrite if i did not allow myself to believe in something
that could not be reproduced in a controlled experiment...
More exists, Horatio, Between Heaven and Earth than can be
dreamt of in one single philosophy... _________________ where-ever you get it - there you have it. - Anon. |

Yes, SSSS, Santa Claus does exist, and i can prove it...
If Santa were real, then there would be presents under the tree...
There are always presents under the tree...
So the concept of Santa is real. _________________ where-ever you get it - there you have it. - Anon. |
