Thank you for the additional WCO information 2aa. With that info, yes, I am off the mark... though it is unusual. Your snide remark was uncalled for. The fact that there is no state funding isn't exactly common knowledge.
Still, I find it difficult to believe that it takes 12 employees to dig up 21 plants. I stand by my statement that they are overstaffed if all 12 of them did not have other responsibilities to oversee. _________________

Only the actual game officer for a county is paid-all deputies are volunteer.
Let me shed a little more light on this-while the number of officers seems excessive, law enforcement knows that often times marijuana grow operations are booby trapped. I would want lots of help (and eyes) with me. _________________

Sounds to me like a lot more trouble than its worth. Putting lives at risk... over what? Marijuana? Our streets are safe now! _________________

I couldn't agree more. How dumb to plant a non native plant species in our gamelands and put our fragile eco system and the lives of our WCO's at risk. Or is it dumber to plant your weed in an area someone is paid to patrol and maintain? Either way, awful silly. |

Yes, it was pretty stupid to grow in that area...
I always thought that it was a native plant in most forest covered areas. The term "weed" was coined because it can grow pretty much anywhere.
I don't know.... this seems like a reputable site. See the note at the bottom: "Remember that only native and naturalized populations are mapped!"
Also note that while Washington County isn't mapped, the spread of these plants would no doubt reach WashPa if it wasn't for The Department of Agriculture had not included it when it adopted an amendment to § 110.1 (relating to noxious weed control list).
