Cy-you would be very hard pressed to find anywhere on here where I said libs were stupid. Unlike you I do not feel people lack intelligence just because they disagree with me.

Your obvious intelligence and mastery of communication
skills puts you at a distinct advantage over the rest of us..
But our ideas and beliefs are not invalidated by your sole opinion.

What about Phony, SSSS? Is it ok that he only refers to liberals as libchits, Democrats as Dumbocraps, and calls the president Osama among other things? He also calls people stupid on a daily basis. If anyone here is smug, that'd be Phony!

Sometimes I wonder if some people on here forget what the purpose of a debate is. Two sides present an opinion and argue it. If fiercely defending my opinion makes me smug, then I take that as a compliment. At least I don't accuse other people of acting smug just because I can't come up with a good counter-argument.

and don't embrace the smug label too long, it's ephemeral...
Half a debate is "listening," that's why we have two ears
and one mouth...fiercely defending your own opinion is
only half the battle..smiling quietly while imagining other
people's opinions is not defeat, it's the caricature of an
honest soul...My only purpose in stating these things (things you
already know) is an effort to remind you that a great deal
of the discord between liberal and conservative lies in the
argument over who has intellectual superiority...And THAT is
a muddy sandbox...I don't know how to fix it...but i will continue
thinking and listening..

ondinita-you have not been on here long but I assure you I do not defend or condone phony-in fact you will notice I tend to avoid responding to him.

Cy-I know what a debate is. I also recognize a superiority complex when I see one. You have heard it from more than me-you think we are wrong, so now everyone knows where we stand. Lets move on.
