Just curious, do all of you wear them? The stories on each of the most recent car accidents where someone has been killed seem to mention that the occupants were ejected. Except the one where the car rolled, and the driver crawled out uninjured. I always wear my seatbelt, no matter what. _________________ -amom

When I was young, and stupid, I was very cavalier about seat belts. Now I wear them religiously and demand that everyone in my car is buckled up. Although I did once survive an accident in which I'm convinced I would have been killed had I been wearing a seat belt, in most kinds of wrecks, you're way better off to be belted in. _________________

I always wear my seatbelt. I'm usually in a hurry. So, I might pull out onto the road and drive a mile before I strap it on... but I always put it on eventually.
That might not help me much. I forget the statistic, but doesn't 50% of accidents happen within a mile of that person home? _________________

Always in bad weather, but rarely on a nice day and think it should be my right to choose whether I wear one or not. _________________

I think maybe it's five or 10 miles, but it's a red herring, because most folks do 90 percent of their driving within a certain number of miles of their home. If we all drove cross-country on a regular basis, the accidents would occur all over the place. _________________

On a recent trip home from Pittsburgh, my 22 year old
insists on driving what is in reality her car... Then she
asks nicely that I not smoke and fasten my seat belt..
I begin to tell her that I was crawling out of the flaming
wreckage of stolen cars before she was a gleam in my
eye...But I don't...I relax in the passenger seat and while
she's distracted, change all of her radio pre-sets to WJPA...
And then I nap... Cradled in a seat belt (for once) and the
comfort of knowing that Sometimes it's good getting old in
a changing world... _________________ where-ever you get it - there you have it. - Anon. |

never wear them-never will. I truly believe they cause as much injury as they prevent (and that is based on experience). I have been know to cut them completely out of vehicles.
And-like motorcycle helmets, I think it should be MY choice, not the governments. _________________

I know several EMTs who would disagree with your experience. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

When I see people riding motorcycles without helmets, I think of them as potential organ donors. You have to be incredibly stupid to do that. _________________

I read 4-5 papers a day on here and all summer there was a least one death and some days more reported.
Also saw where a special (Congressional?) study was starting because of so many deaths this year. |
