Who is this freaking new president of the AARP, a freaking Osama CZAR in disguise????

Doesn't this weasel know that Osama wants to eliminate MEDICARE, MEDICAID, VA, programs and use the funds to give us LOW GRADE HEALTH CARE, while giving the "poor" even LOWER GRADE CARE.....

Perhaps the AARP Prez bases his opinions on reality and facts rather than the mindless paranoia and groundless fear to which you seem so devoted. Wink

I too, have just reached the point to qualify for membership in AARP.
I also am a member of the "working poor." I make too much to
qualify for Medicaid, can't afford health insurance, and I'm not old
enough for Medicare....So you must understand why it is difficult
for me to imagine an even "lower standard of care" than what I currently
don't have....
I've paid 1point four five percent of every dollar I've ever earned into
Medicare. And yet it's a sad truth that it would be better for Medicare,
and better for the taxpayers, if I died a sudden tragic death before I reach
the age of 65, or am forced to go to the emergency room with a lingering
illness.....

I'm considering quitting our Union,SEIU. I understand though I will still have to contribute almost all of what it is now. You can't get out until you die or quit!

free, if this sham Osama Health Plan goes through, it will amount to a TAX INCREASE, with the government combining MEDICARE, MEDICAID, VA, CHIPS, and other sources of funds dedicated to health care. This process will release money we "old timers" paid into MEDICARE for years, and the STINKING ROTTEN GOVERNMENT will put it into the GENERAL FUND, as a TAX INCREASE.......Osama is repeating what another LIBCHIT president did, L.B.J., when that rascal stole SOCIAL SECURITY and put the money from the TRUST into the general fund....

dazes, there is no need for a freaking union, in today's marketplace....the unions were needed when corporations were chitting all over their workers......The union cost me a job....the union cost me a pension.....can't collect a pension from a bankrupt union, prior to 1974...

The ironic part for me is that I'm ALREADY paying taxes to provide health
insurance for the very poor and the elderly -- but none for me....And I'm
nowhere near smart enough to understand the complicated machinations
of the power brokers who control the financial aspects of a universal health
insurance plan. So for me, this is not really a money issue - it is a social
ethics question... Why should some Americans have government health
insurance, and others have none..? If a house catches on fire, a government
financed fire company puts it out without first doing a credit check or tax
audit of the homeowner....Same with police protection....
Access to medical care, regardless of income or age, is as fundamental to
the quality of human life, as is police or fire protection....
We also have schools, libraries, postal system, transportation, environment,
military, legal aid, child services, animal welfare, etcetera, that are ALL funded by taxes, and ALL have their share of excess and success...And they
all contribute to what makes America great
Thank you for listening.

Right you are, Freethinker. We can waste hundreds of billions of dollars on an unnecessary war in Iraq, and there's nary a peep from the teabagging crowd. But if you try to do something that's really beneficial for the country, like providing health care for all of our people, you folks running around screaming like their hair is on fire.

dazes-I have been watching for an article from the teachers union about Obama's idea of extending the school year. Talk about swaying away from your base!

brant I know you never pass up a chance to give your view on the war-let me give another example. The screamers on the left yelled at the top of their lungs when bush sent the deficeit into the billions. But the current President sends it into the trillions with bailouts and there is deafening silence.

Does "unnecessary" also mean the one we are in today?

Here's an interesting little table showing the US National Debt broken down by President including percentage of the GDP, from 1976 to the present.

According to the LIBCHIT HERO, Keynes, a government should never balance their budget.
