And you are right... there isn't any reason to present Thomas Jefferson as a guy who had sex with his slaves to third graders or anything... but at the same time, they absolutely should not be deified, as they all too often are now.
And whether or not our nation is absolutely the greatest on earth kinda depends on how you define "Great"... In many cases, we have been the most successful on a number of fronts... We have also been utter failures in other areas. You should teach children to be proud of your country, but not to overlook or ignore the times when we have been horribly and unforgivably wrong. And as far as America being "the greatest"... Then a logical extension is that other countries are lesser than America... and citizens of other countries are lesser than Americans... and that is not only false, but dangerous.
History is hindsight. Hindsight should always be 20/20, and should never be dressed up or sugarcoated. |
How can our kids not learn of "HOW BAD OUR COUNTRY HAS BEEN" as you LIBCHITS are constantly bringing it up.......constantly apologizing for our errors......begging foregiveness......you know, the LIBCHIT TRAITORISTIC excuses......

Where are you getting your info, dazes? The school district has clearly said it occurred during Black History Month, February 2009. The video, however, only surfaced a few days prior to the President's 'controversial' speech to schoolchildren earlier this month. |
I stand corrected I should have said it aired in June and there wasn't time in that school year to protest because the year was over. You got me My Bad! However I don't care if it was Purple History Moth and the Kids were singing the praises of Barney. That was an inappropriate song to sing.The teacher who has since retired had written a book that is visible during the video about Obama and she obviously was going to an extreme to sell her book. Singing praises to a man, who hasn't done anything of note yet is premature and reeks of political correctness. If children were taught a song about Reagan after the Berlin Wall fell singing his praises in school you guys would have had a meltdown. Historically Ok, but other than being the first he hasn't done anything yet. There were plenty of black firsts that have stood the test of time and did great things. Teach the children about Soujourner Truth, Fredrick Douglas, MLK, George Washington Carver, the 54th Mass. Lynn Swann, Allan Keyes, Roy Innis. |

i already clearly said i thought it was inappropriate of that teacher, and that there are many other worthy examples to expose those children to during Black History Month. Many of whom they've likely never heard of. Try to keep up, will you?
