The reason Day by Day is one of my favorites, is my junior high choir went on a field trip to Pittsburgh one afternoon to see Godspell and the production was just fantastic! I can still picture in my mind's eye the actors singing and dancing. *sigh Then, the following year, the choir sang the songs from the musical for the spring concert.

The reason I like O' Fortuna is that it makes me think of a post-apocalyptic dystopia where I am forced into leading a small band of resistance fighters against some formidable power, be it terrestrial or otherwise. The Electromagnetic Pulses from the nuclear war and the subsequent collapse of the global marketplace has isolated pockets of humanity into a loose network of basically 15th century clans and thus, we rally the troops on horseback and go to battle with rudimentary weapons such as spears, swords, bows, and farming implements a la braveheart. It's always cloudy and grey and the landscape looks as if the entire world is eternally suspended at a time between dawn and a rainstorm. We subsist on root vegetables and roasted pigs, which are suspiciously abundant... and O'Fortuna wafts through the trees like the soundtrack to our hell.

Plus, it sounds the way the inside of cathedrals look Smile

When I tell people this, they give kinda roll their eyes like I must not go to very many concerts... But the best show I've ever seen was an unknown Ben Harper, followed by Ben Folds Five, with Beck as the headliner. They were all amazing. Harper did some of the best slide guitar since Duane Allman, Ben Folds played the strings inside the piano with his microphone, and after Beck did his retro thang, he did a half hour acoustic set that gave me immense respect for his talent. That was also the only night that I've ever smoked a bong in a car. Bad idea kids. Bongs shouldn't leave the house.

Gorillaz - Stylo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9vAOzYz-Qs

Bruce Willis cameos in the video. Mos Def does the rap. Bobby Womack sings the verses. And I read that when Womack came into the studio, they said, "just sing about whatever's on your mind." They recorded over 2 hours of him just improvising and put the best in the song.
